What we offer

  • Our priority is to help asylum seekers and refugees affected by organized violence, whether as victims or witnesses, who are experiencing significant symptoms of psychological distress and wish to speak to a mental health professional.
  • We also offer training, coaching and workshops to organizations and stakeholders.

Services for our Clients

Psychosocial interventions

Assessing and prioritising requests for psychotherapy.

Referring individuals and families to community or institutional resources according to their needs.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy for adults who have been affected by violence and who have been referred by their therapist.

Psychotherapy

Individual (adults, adolescents, children) or group psychotherapy: helping relationships.

Group Activities

While you’re waiting to be matched with a therapist, you can take part in our group activities, such as Art Therapy, Empowerment, Professional Integration, Phone Pairing, and Therapeutic Horticulture Group, etc.

Services for Institutions and Support Workers

Training sessions for community and institutional workers

RIVO offers tailor-made sessions, defined according to the needs of those involved, related to trauma, torture or secondary trauma.

Support for support workers

RIVO offers support to support workers wishing to develop specific skills to deal with complex situations.

Co-development Workshops

RIVO offers internal and external co-development workshops to support our therapists and partners in discussing potential complex cases and new research.

Informative video series for support workers

RIVO has created a series of video clips entitled LE SAVOIR C’EST LE POUVOIR : Renforçons la capacité des intervenants to better equip those working with asylum seekers.

Internships for psychologists and psychotherapists

RIVO offers supervised internships for psychologists and psychotherapists completing the hours required by the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec.
